With one week of freedom to do as I please in Santa Barbara while the weather is the most beautiful its been as long as I've been here, I've naturally decided to stay inside and update my livejournal.

This session at school was interesting, I took Speech and Lighting Theory and I think I got an A and a B, so I'm happy. I really don't know what else to write anymore, a lot of my friends from College just went back home, some for good and others just for break and I feel equally upset about all of their departures.

I'm just going to jump into pictures, because I think the stories behind them take care of themselves while I'm captioning.

First: Didi Gochez and Maya are creative little kids. They made this music video to Vampire Weekend for Video Productions, and it's fly. You should definitely watch it, or at least let the music play while you're peeping the rest of these pictures.

In keeping in the theme of Didi, I took some picures of her while I was home in March.

Didi also got a Digital Rebel Xti which is proof that we should be biological siblings.

One of this session's assignments was CD Cover.
I shot Jackie and had to reshoot, but I really liked how these came out anyway.

I got the best grades of my life this session...I'm pretty sure.

Oh, yeah! I realized today that Facebook allows people to experience the whole photo-lj experience of posting their pictures with captions and then releasing them and awaiting comments and being all crazy excited. Way to go Facebook...is it even a good feeling? I don't know (idk!!!) but more people are experiencing it, and they're addicted like we all probably were here on LJ. Dude RIP LJ 2003-2007ish.

I read Twilight...and now I'm embarrassed.

I explained the idea of this photo to my mom today, how it stood for memories, or reminders. The ribbon represented her thought and was so braided into her hair from her mind, around her arm and tied in a reminder bow on her finger, and my mom said, "Dominic, you are so talented." and I was really happy. I think it's the first thing I've ever explained to her conceptually or something, so that's why she liked it so much...I don't know. I also realize that her saying I'm "so talented" is subjective, because she's my mother, and that it's an opinion and not necessarily a fact.

So that's most of what I turned in for 103, which I passed so now I'm moving on to 200. Hootie Hoo!
School is a breeze and life is easy right now and I'm not looking forward to when it gets hard, (that's what she said), especially if it's in the summer. Weaksauce.

I wish I could draw a sweet peace sign to put right here for the end. OH! Which reminds me...we get to use Wacom Tablets in Digital Lab so I mostly just draw in there. I have another one of a pirate that's in my email that I'll try to post.

Don't talk to me about her disproportionate(?) eyeballs, I know!

So, I'm faking you all out with this alleged update, but it's really just a brief overview of life lately.

Brenna and I glamourized smoking, hootie hoo!
Also, these were super inspired by that Pop! Editorial with Jessica Stam in it.

School's been going well, it's super boring this session and so I've just been smoking a lot of pot lately with my friends. I can't wait for Jackie to come to SB.

This post feels super nostalgic. How good is the L Word, y'all? I've watched all of season four, shit is legit.

I shot a series of pictures of Natalie and Eric as fifties kids for our word association project for "sharing".

I also shot Natalie looking emo.

Eric looked Old Hollywood, and I've been playing with Nat's 5D and I think I'm going to buy one.
I also need a new computer because this piece of shit runs as slow as a motherfucker.

On Christmas, I photographed nearly my entire family, and I was really pleased with the results.

Colby Smith came up to Santa Barbara last weekend for Halloweekend in Isla Vista.
He also had an ulterior motive, because he drug my ass to the beach with an assortment of outfit possibilities and made me take nearly 500 pictures of him, that cunt.
jkjkjkjklollmaomaalmao. He's being represented by an agency in LA and they needed head shots of him for his card. Some of these are headshots, and some are just fun ones we did in between being serious about his pictures.

And, just in case I haven't said it enough times, I hate FLICKR.
I also realized I kind of hate these first three since the depth of field was so shallow that these aren't as perfectly focused as I imagined they were while I was editing. What can you do?

Throwback to 2005.
I hate growing up, honestly.

That was a fun day at the beach.

That night we got crazy drunk and drama happened and I ended up sneaking into Jackie's dorm room at like 3 in the morning after getting delicious nachos at Freebirds! and it was pretty epic.
I'm honestly loving life at the moment, I've been home for a week and it's been amazing seeing people I've missed so much in the past two months. Brooks' schedule of two months and then a week break in between sessions is perfect, even though I'm not happy with my classes for next session. Really not happy. But I'm going to try to fight it.

Since I've been home I've been catching up on TV and have watched the entire season 3 of Weeds and all of the Pushing Daisies episodes, and some other shows. I'm also heavily into The Office right now thanks to Wade and Brenna.

It's weird how lazy I am about posting pictures on here, but Flickr is seriously demented, and they need to change that shit up quickstyle.

Does anyone want to buy my Canon Digital Rebel XT?
I have to sell it and I'm trying to get atleast like $600 dollars for it, maybe $500...I don't know.
It's in really good condition and I'm going to have the sensors cleaned before sending it out, the body has virtually no scratches on it, nor does the lens. it'll come with the 18-55mm kit lens. I'll of course include the USB cord. I might throw in the 1GB CF card because I'm thinking of buying the 2GB CF card anyway.

A LEGIT UPDATE!

So, it's only lightweight legit, but I figured, I'm not going to sleep anytime soon...so I might as well do something productive. Plus, I just like these pictures a whole lot.

Many moons ago, when summer was still young, my girl Kristina Kohler asked me to take pictures of her to send into Maxim for their Hometown Hotties website. Someone from Myspace scouted her for it, and I happily obliged to take the pictures for her.

She took forever to get ready, but it was all good.

We played beer pong in the mean time.

We decided the best place to shoot would be ski beach, so we jumped in the KohlerBoat.

Courtney is hands down the funnest person I know.

K.K. was prepping her lipgloss, to ensure that it would be poppin'.
Oh, is that reference to hip-hop actually so three months old? I didn't notice.

She's a celebrity, and incognito if you couldn't tell.

We arrived at the heavily flooded ski beach after what felt like an hour in the no-wake zone.
The water was warm and the sun was setting and it was beautiful.

I start school really soon, and I'm so excited. I think it's going to be really amazing. I went to Santa Barbara to look for apartments and visit the campus, and it's breath-takingly beautiful. It sits on top of a small mountain and from the main entrance, you can see all the way off into the ocean. I can't wait. It feels like Hogwarts, and I know I'm a nerd, but seriously it does. I've been packing my things and it doesn't feel weird at all, I've been dying to get out of this house for years and I finally am. Life is fantastic, except for the fact that it's been two days without seeing any of my friends and I'm spending my days by the pool and chain-smoking which is definitely not good.

I take my driver's test today, so wish me luck!

let's get lost tonight

Life really isn't good at all right now.
I don't know what I would do if I didn't have the strongest woman in the world as my mother, and some really great, amazing friends. I won't get into it here, but both of the "father figures" in my life are doing the exact opposite of each other, for once. One's trying with all his might to help me go to school, and one's run away to Las Vegas. I cried this week, and it takes a lot for me to cry over things in the real world, so yeah shit's just not good at all.

I haven't updated in so long! I feel like I have so much to blog about. Brooks. Brooks is very nearly the only thing on my mind lately. Brooks and Harry Potter. Anyway, I applied to Brooks one day, paying the $100 application fee, which is more than a CSU btw, and they called me the next day and conducted two phone interviews which went splendidly. They didn't believe I was seventeen, but I'm down with that. I spoke to one of them today and she was like "How have you been? I feel like I miss you..." and I was like "O_o...I miss you too?", anyway they were both extremely nice and helpful ladies and I'm looking forward to meeting them in September. I just have to mail off two more information packets and I think I should be in. I'm so excited.

Guy brought home a new employee the other day, and she live in Santa Barbara and dated this guy named Smallz, who is now part of Smallz and Raskind and they've shot a lot of really famous people. She said she might hook me up with an internship with them, and also one of her really good friends went to Brooks for a year and a half and he's working with STEVEN KLEIN and travelling the world and making bank and it just makes me really hopeful. Thanks god I decided to go to a school specifically for photography, because I'd probably be contemplating suicide if I went to a CSU. Now, I can't wait for the future.

I get my flash back soon, they shipped it to me yesterday so it should be arriving soon and then I can FINALLY take pictures at night again, and you don't know how much not having a flash has hindered me over the past 3 months. Harry Potter comes out in literally a few hours and I've nearly read all the spoilers on the internet (lightweight accidentally) and I hope they're fake because the book does not sound all that good based on those spoilers alone. But I've never been more excited for anything in my life. I started reading those books when I was 9, EIGHT YEARS OF MY LIFE BBZ.

It's a trip how recent the beginning of Senior Year feels, and now, I've graduated and all my friends are separating and I'm kind of freaking. Kevin's going to Vermont[?], everyone's going to Sacramento, Kayla, Kiley, Karli and I are going down South, and a lot of people are staying close to home, and it's going to be weird not being able to be at someone's house in five minutes or whatnot. I'll have Jackie in Santa Barbara though, so I'm looking forward to that. Oh I think I'm getting a roommate and that's exciting. I'm going to tell them I collect Bratz figurines, and Kevin's going to say he collects Beanie Babies in Vermont and then we're going to tell each other about it. I haven't seen Didi in 6 days, I'm having withdrawals.

One time, Jeanette and I were sitting in the Barnes and Noble cafe, perusing magazines and sipping our GTL's (which LiLo drinks so I feel connected) and a group of housewives order and wait for their drinks when one of the baristas says "Earl Grey?" and hands it to a housewife. To which Jeanette says,"I wonder why they never ask for our names..." Earl Grey is a tea, not a woman's name! Everyone's since concluded that Jeanette's lost about 40 brain cells this Summer.

This Summer has been amazing & cold thanks to global warming, by the way.

I finished Harry Potter last night at 4:30 AM, it was so fucking perfect and amazing, and I know a lot of people are complaining about it being really fanficcy, and while I see that, she's been planning this for forever, and so the fact that people wrote fanfics that were similar isn't that big of a deal or a fault on her part. Of course people are going to write about the kids in the future and them getting married and having kids, and so when she does it, it's obviously so fanfic right? No. The end was so fucking great, but the death everyone was waiting for was really brief and anticlimactic, I would have prefered her describing some intense light show following it. I WANT MORE. I want that 19 year void between The Flaw in the Plan and the Epilogue. And she'd better write it.

I've been breezing through these pictures on my computer, so expect a lot more updates pretty soon.

Karli, Nikki, Nina, Michael and Scott and some others are all in Hawaii right now and so, I'm lonely. Nights suck without them, and summer is kind of blowing hard core.

My parents are still trying to make me get a job, but it's not easy, and I still don't have my license. But my parents bought me a piece of shit 1995 Ford Escort...for approximately the same amount of money my stepdad spends on weed per month. Thus, I can not be overjoyed about it.

I GOT MY BRACES OFF TWO DAYS AGO, and I'm pretty verklempt.

In other news, I got breathalized by the police two days before graduation and it was so scary. It's a long story but the cops were bipolar and were assholes at first, and then got really nice and let us go, and we went to a house where our lesbian friends (and their transexual room mate) live. Most random night of my life.

I'm really considering Brooks Institute of Photography for the fall, but I'm so confused about applying and I need to see if Jackie can get out of her dorm situation so the two of us can get an apartment together, so we can make up for the past four years of separation.

Hold Up! Hella Naw!

Two month hiatus is now officially over.

This post doesn't even contain that many pictures at all, as I was entertained the whole weekend and didn't feel much like taking pictures.
Also, my flash is still broken, thanks to one Didi Gochez.

Senior Ball was held on May 26th and Jackie came up to go with me.
She lent me her Digital Rebel and her 50mm f1.8 lens for the night.

There isn't even a picture of us together from my camera.
I just realized.

So we go to the school for professional pictures (which turned out sufficiently awkward), and saw everyone looking crazy beautiful.

The Santa Cruz trip was a really great last "hurrah" before returning to school for finals and graduation, all we did was walk around the beach all day and night and then pass out in our hotel rooms. Good times.

My laptop is still not fixed and I'm still unhappy about it.
I'm going to try to mail off my external flash though and see if I can get it repaired. It's under warranty, so it should be fine.
